The BASE fitness regimen covers
four vital components of peak performance. These elements
are best described as the four ingredients of fitness, BASE.
The acronym BASE stands for:
Balance
Agility
Strength
Endurance
The BASS fitness plan is tantamount to a
cross-training regimen. For example, specific exercises enhance,
benefit and tone the body. Review the following fitness programs
promote more balance, agility, stamina and strength.
Balance
To improve overall equilibrium, poise and good posture, a
variety of exercise programs can hone balance. The deliberate
and over-extended positions of yoga achieve peak performance.
Tai chi, karate and aikido are other exercises that promote
good balance. In the realm of fun balance exercises, Pilates
and dancing are excellent for making muscles lean.
Agility
The simplest of tasks require agility. Again, Pilates and
Yoga improve flexibility. Regular stretching boosts agility,
as well. Ballet is another lithe building regimen.
Strength
Strength training comes with innumerous alternatives. Despite
the usual ways to body build, free-weights and weight machine
circuit training, strength training
Exerting one's strength can be enjoyed via tubing workouts,
resistance bands, water aerobics, gymnastics, calisthenics
and even inline skating.
Endurance
For optimal physical adeptness, endurance is a vital element
of the BASE fitness. A regular fitness regimen of cross-country
skiing, walking, cycling, jogging, rowing, running, swimming,
volleyball and tennis are excellent sports activities for
building one's stamina or endurance.
Fitness Tip: Because the BASE fitness program
is not only good for engaging, improving and working all muscles
groups of the body, it serves as an excellent method of keeping
one's exercise program varied, exciting and challenging. As
with any fitness program, check with you physician before
embarking on a new regimen.
