Conjugated Linoleic Acid or CLA is a non-essential fatty acid that may be found in cow and sheep meat, and dairy products. It is known to decrease body fat in obese and overweight people. It works by inhibiting the action of the lipoprotein lipase (LPL) enzyme that is responsible for the transfer of fat from the blood stream to the fats cells. It has powerful anti-carcinogenic properties that fight free radical cells from damaging the cells. It also helps control blood sugar levels. It encourages muscle growth and improves the metabolism which accelerates weight loss. It reduces the risk of heart diseases. It is also an antioxidant.

Gamma Oryzanol- When of oils from corn, barn, rice, barley are mixed with ferulic acid esters of sterols and triterpene alcohols, the end product is what is known as the Gamma oryzanol. Plant cells carry gamma oryzanol as one of the most important antioxidants. Isolation, extraction and purification of gamma oryzanol have been going on since the mid 1950’s. The first country to use this as a medicine was Japan way back in 1962. Research shows that gamma oryzanol helps in treatment for menopause, elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels. In recent times, gamma oryzanol has been used as a supplement in bodybuilding. But research is still unclear as to whether it has any benefits or not.
